Florida Woman Dies While Swimming at Trunk Bay

A 66-year-old Florida woman was pronounced dead Jan. 24 after an incident at Trunk Bay beach, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

At an unspecified time, the woman, identified as Carolyn Keister, began swimming while visiting the beach with her family. After a few minutes, she appeared to struggle in the water and was escorted to shore. Emergency Medical Technicians were dispatched to the scene and attempted resuscitation efforts, but they were unsuccessful, according to the police report.

Keister was transported to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death remains under investigation pending an autopsy, the police report stated.
