Even Residents With Insurance Urged to Register With FEMA

Federal Emergency Management Agency

Homeowners, renters and business owners affected by hurricanes in the Virgin Islands should register for disaster assistance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) even if they already have insurance.

Insurance is the first line of defense against financial loss, and FEMA cannot duplicate insurance payments. But, the agency may help underinsured survivors receive assistance after insurance claims are settled.

Register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or 800-621-3362.
