Saturated Patrol Officers Arrest 3, Seize Drugs and 2 Weapons

Three men were arrested and officers seized two illegal weapons and illegal drugs as from the V.I. Police Special Operations unit conducted a saturated patrol over the weekend.

On Friday, officers arrested 29-year-old Jason Felix near the Front Line Night Club in Estate Coble. While patrolling the area, police said they smelled marijuana and went to investigate. They saw a man, later identified as Felix, acting in what they considered a suspicious manner. Police said a search of Felix revealed that he had a loaded .45 handgun stuck in the waist of his pants.

Felix was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and held on a $25,000 bail.

Shortly after noon Saturday in Estate Mon Bijou near Hyme’s Grocery store, officers observed several men loitering. As the patrol car approached one man allegedly got up and walked to a car parked nearby. Police said they saw him reach into his pockets and approached him. According to the report, the officers confiscated 23 grams of marijuana from the suspect, who was later identified as 31-year-old Tyson Chioke.

Chioke was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and bail was set at $25,000.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday officers patrolling the Mon Bijou community said they saw a man leaning on a white Honda Accord near the community center. On the trunk of the car officers saw several small plastic containers filled with what appeared to be marijuana. The officers approached the man, who was later identified as 30-year-old Jamal Smith. A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded additional marijuana in the center console and in the trunk. Officers said they also confiscated a 9 mm Taurus handgun that was in the front passenger’s seat pouch. The marijuana totaled 181 grams, according to the report.

Smith was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and alteration of a firearms’ identifying marks. Smith was held on $25,000 bail.
