After reviewing the polling places selected for the September primary, the St. Thomas/St. John Board of Elections made some adjustments to make sure all four provided access for people with disabilities.
The board met twice Thursday, convening in the morning, breaking up over quorum problems, then reconvening in the afternoon, according to member Larry Boschulte, who talked to the Source after the meeting ended.
According to Boschulte, the board voted to move one of the primary polling places from the annex at Charlotte Amalie High School to the gymnasium to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. They also voted to move the polling place tentatively slated for Joseph Gomez Elementary to the Curriculum Center for the same reason, he said.
The Addilita Cancryn Middle School polling place is unchanged.
On St. John, primary voting will take place at Julius Sprauve Elementary.
The board also voted to transfer $1,957 from the professional services budget and $2,014 from the travel budget into the compensation budget to compensate board members who will be meeting at least weekly from now until the Nov. 6 general election, Boschulte said.
