The Labor Department will host recruitment and interview sessions for displaced Hovensa employees starting at 10 a.m. May 7 through May 11, at its Sion Farm location on St. Croix, the department announced Friday.
All former Hovensa employees and interested trade craftsmen of all skill levels are invited to attend. Tradesmen International has expressed a high level of interest regarding options for Hovensa employees who would be attracted to employment opportunities in the US mainland.
“This is an opportunity for our residents to find temporary as well as permanent jobs. We are constantly looking for opportunities to connect our clients to work and this is just one part of our ongoing strategy in response to the Hovensa event,” Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan said in a statement.
The recruitment effort is in collaboration with Sen. Sammuel Sanes. The department will be helping participants write resumes. Participants should be prepared to fill out online applications and participate in on-site interviews.
