James E. Davis Jr. of Christiansted, St. Croix, died Sunday morning, Dec. 20, at his home, as the result of a serious illness.
James E. Davis Jr. Dies at 46
Jim was born in Albany, N.Y., on Dec. 19, 1963, a beautiful redhead, the son of James and Doris Davis. He grew up in Delmar and attended the Bethlehem Central Schools. He also attended SUNY Canton and subsequently served for five years in the United States Navy.
Jim moved to Christiansted, St. Croix, in April 2008 and grew to love the island, its people and warm weather, and a relaxed pace of life which he called "island time." He enjoyed his job and his colleagues at Business World, who were kind and supportive, and he made many friends easily during his time there. Weekend sailing with friends became a passion and a special part of his life. Jim enjoyed life and people. His smile, charm and engaging personality won him friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his parents, James and Doris Davis of Delmar, N.Y., and a younger brother, Matthew, of Monkton, Vermont. He will be sorely missed by them as well as by aunts and uncles and many cousins.
A special private gathering of family to celebrate Jim’s life will take place at a later date.
Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to: St. Croix Animal Welfare Center, Rural Route No. 2, Kingshill, VI 99850 or World Ocean School, P.O. Box 701, Camden, ME 04843.
