Former Scotiabank Assistant Manager of Sales and Marketing Wendie Michel Brown was convicted of 19 counts of wire fraud in Federal District Court on St. Thomas Thursday.
Following a four-day jury trial before Judge Curtis Gomez, Brown was convicted on all 19 counts charged in the indictment, according to a statement from the office of U.S. Attorney for the Virgin Islands Ronald Sharpe.
The jury found that from August 2006 to March 2007, Brown defrauded Scotiabank of $124,000. Following the conviction, Brown was ordered to voluntarily surrender to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service on Oct. 7.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 13. Brown faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment per count, a fine of up to $250,000, and mandatory restitution.
