Suspect Fires on Officers During Chase

Police on St. Thomas arrested 22-year-old Kemoy Thompson on Wednesday morning after a car and foot chase during which officers said the suspect fired on them.

According to the V.I. Police Department, no one was injured.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle due to the dark tint on the windows, the report said, but the vehicle fled the scene and a chase ensued. The vehicle drove toward Bergs Home and was abandoned in that area.

A suspect, who police said they later identified as Thompson, jumped from the vehicle and began to run.

Officers pursued the suspect, who allegedly fired shots at them.

Police apprehended Thompson and arrested him. He was charged with first-degree assault and held on $125,000 bail pending his appearance in court.

This case continues to be investigated by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit.
