Suspects Arrested in Anna's Retreat Assault

Two suspects, Ayala King and Roland Murrell Jr., were arrested Saturday in connection with the shooting of a male victim who was assaulted Jan. 28 in front of his Estate Anna’s Retreat home, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Officers from the Special Operations Bureau, the Juvenile Bureau, Intelligence Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau executed search and arrest warrants at two locations in the Tutu High Rise housing community, police said, after an investigation into the shooting and assault revealed that the two suspects were occupying those apartments.

Murrell, age 21, and King, 23, were charged with possession of stolen property, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, grand larceny and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Their bail was set at $100,000 each. The suspects were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.

“I want the people in our community to know that the wheel of justice sometimes spins slower than we would like, but it is spinning," acting Police Commissioner Rodney F. Querrard, Sr. said. "The Police Department will continue to do whatever necessary within the law to arrest the criminals living among us. We want to thank the people who are calling us daily with pertinent information before, during and after a crime occurs, assisting us with deterring crimes or leading to arrest of the perpetrators of crimes in progress or past."

The commissioner also thanked the officers and detectives on the investigation.
