St. Thomas Woman Arrested

Rakeema R. Jones, 22, was arrested around 7 p.m. Friday on first degree robbery charges after she was allegedly identified as the person who robbed a 48-year-old man of cash and cut his arm with a box cutter, police said in a press release issued Monday.

According to the police report, the victim went to Cost-U-Less to collect and cash his paycheck. Upon leaving the building around 2 p.m., he saw the suspect, who later approached him and asked him for money.

The victim said he and the suspect struggled with the envelope containing his money and the suspect cut his arm several times with a box cutter. The suspect grabbed $100 and fled the area.

The victim was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where he received stitches for the slashes on his arm. After he was treated, he was released

Jones was held on $75,000 bail, which she was unable to post. She was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
