Main Entrance to Havensight, WICO Dock Closed through Sunday

V.I. National Track and Field Teams Pursue Results

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation has announced that Virgin Islands National Track and Field Teams are still on the move and looking for qualifiers and championship results.
V.I. National Senior Team
The senior team members had a successful competition at the Trinidad and Tobago National Championships and The Bahamas Olympic Trials and National Championships over the weekend. 
Bahamas Olympic Trials/National Championships
Allison Peter had a stellar performance in the 200m in the Bahamas as she ran away from the field with a time of 22.89, her second, best-ever performance (her best is 22.77) and well within the Olympic “A” qualifying standard. Her next competition will be in the NACAC Under 23 in Mexico and then the London Olympics.
Wanetta Kirby took third place in the long jump and Courtney Patterson took second in the consolation 100m behind Taheshia Harrigan-Scott of the British Virgin Islands.
Trinidad and Tobago National Championships
Three male V.I. sprinters made it through the qualifying rounds in the 100m in Trinidad including: David Walters, Leon Hunt and Karl Williams. Walters advanced to the finals and finished fourth in the round with a 10.54 (time questioned by V.I.).
Leon Hunt finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.63 (take-off a foot behind the board) and Collister Fahie finished fifth.
Leslie Murray took second place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.54
The 4 x 100m relay team of Collister Fahie, David Walters, Leon Hunt and Karl Williams had a strong performance (40.56) finishing 4th behind St. Kitts and Nevis 1st (39.06); Venezuela 2nd (39.82) and the Trinidad and Tobago World Junior Team 3rd (40.18).
The relay team will head for Jamaica to compete in the national championships this coming weekend. 
V.I. National Junior Team
The V.I. National Junior Team will travel to El Salvador this weekend to compete in the CAC Junior Championships. Of the team members originally selected for this competition only Malique Smith under 17 800m and Britney Sage under 17 100m, 200m will compete.
Athletes selected but will not compete are:
Female: Nia Jack under 17 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m (injured); Quashira McIntosh under 17 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m (no passport); Laticia Mathew under 17 4 x 100m(no passport); Karen Dascent under 17 4 x 100m (no 4 x 100); Seana Wynter under 20 200m, 400m (Declined).
Male: Zaire Knight under 20 100m, 200m (injured); Deandre Rawlins under 20 200m (to World Junior Championships)
V.I. National Under 23 Team
Female: Allison Peter 100m, 200m; Ninfa Barnard 800m
Male: Hasheem Halim triple jump; Leslie Murray 400m hurdles; Karl Williams 100m, 200m; Carim Browne 100m, 200m; Seymour Walter 800m
