Three Injured in Waterfront Shooting

Three men were injured Sunday night in a shooting that took place on the waterfront near the Emile Griffith Park on Veteran’s Drive.

According to the V.I. Police Department, a 33-year-old man was shot in his left thigh, a 23 year-old was shot in his right leg, and a 34-year-old man was shot in his left knee.

The victims were taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police did not release the names of the victims.

Emergency 911 dispatch operators received reports of multiple shot being fired in the area a few minutes past 7 p.m. Sunday. Officers responding to the scene on Konprindsens Gade recovered several spent shell casings, a cell phone, a firearm and a bulletproof vest. Several vehicles in the immediate area were damaged by gunshots.

Police were informed by 911 that the three victims were taken to the hospital by private vehicles.

All of the victims told police they were walking in the area when they heard shots being fired and realized they had been shot. They said they did not know the people who gave them rides to the hospital.

This case is being investigated by detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police are urging anyone who knows anything about this shooting or any other violent incident to call detectives at 1-340-714-9834 or 1-340-715-5522. Information also can be called in to the 911 emergency dispatch center or the anonymous tip service, Crimes Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be sent via text message to Crime Stoppers by sending the word USVI plus the message to CRIMES, or 274637.
