In the wake of Interim Chief Executive Officer Kendall Griffith’s July 10 resignation, his July 15 reinstatement and the resignation of two board members at Griffith’s request, under Senate pressure the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital has fired Vice President of Facilities Management Peter Abrahams. (See related links below.)
"The position has been eliminated so we will no longer have that position within the organization," acting CEO Justa Encarnacion confirmed Tuesday.
Griffith is out on leave until next Tuesday, Encarnacion said. "He is on vacation," she said.
Encarnacion would not comment on the reasons for the change, saying it was an internal personnel decision that would not normally be announced publicly. She said she was confirming the change as a courtesy, because it had already been publicized in the media.
When asked how the work previously done by Abrahams would now be performed, she said existing staff would take care of it.
"We already have individuals performing those duties who will continue to perform those duties, and oversight will continue to be provided by the executive management team," she said.
Abrahams, a long-time hospital employee, frequently acted as interim CEO when the previous several CEOs left the territory.
