Fundraiser Offers Chance to Meet Obama

A lucky Virgin Islander can win an opportunity to meet President Barack Obama as part of the last political fundraiser to feature the president this year.

The event will be held Thursday in Miami, and according to a news release, the Obama Victory Fund 2012 has authorized a USVI raffle for one ticket to meet Obama at the event and have a photograph taken with him.

The event, titled "Estamos-Unidos" or “We are One,” will also feature Eva Longoria. A local donor will pay for airfare and one night’s hotel for the winner.

The Obama Victory Fund is holding a drawing, in which individuals will be entered each time they contribute $26 – a figure chosen because the event is 26 days before Election Day. Anyone who wants to take part must donate through the USVI online donation link at http://my.barackobama.com/usvirginislandsovfmain, not through other online links.

Tickets for the event are normally $5,000.

The Obama Victory Fund held a similar raffle for a chance to meet President Obama June 26 in South Beach, Florida, and St. Thomas resident Helene Smollett won.

The news release calls the raffle "a great opportunity for the USVI to show strong and broad-based support for President Obama’s reelection, and for one lucky Virgin Islander to meet the president."

For more information or to contribute via check or cash, those interested can send an email to the USVI Finance Chair of the Obama Victory Fund 2012 at VI4Obama@gmail.com or call 1-340-776-7235, ext. 1. Contributions must be made by midnight AST Saturday to qualify for the drawing.

Wow, a chance to meet the chameleon that's been tanking our economy for the last four years and suffocating us in insurmountable debt. I'd like to take a chance for 26 dollars but I need that money to fill less than half my gas tank. Maybe on his next trip to St. Croix, I'll get my chance. Wha? He's never been . . . not surprised.

What's Second Prize?

Shots of Tequila while arm wrestling Michelle.

saying that obama tanked the economy is just disingenuous. He didnt do it, the repubs did. They hand him a crap sandwich and then complain he didnt eat it fast enough. that retoric may fly with folks who never voted for him to begin with but those of us who actually pay attention know who is responsible for what happened in 08. (yes we havent forgotten about Bush yet) Stop complaining that he isnt cleaning up your mess fast enough and put on your big boy pants and quit crapping in the hallway. Now that alot of the hard work has been done (national unemployment figure at 7.8%)and getting better, do you think we should hand it back to the repubs so they can take credit? oh, and by the way, why would the president come to a war zone on purpose? Or is that his fault too?

He took a bad economy and made it way worse because he knows NOTHING about economics. The fraud hasn't run a crap sandwich stand, never mind the worlds largest economy. Wake up. He just added 6 trillion dollars to our debt in 4 years because he doesn't know what he's doing. And if he DOES know what he's doing then he should be impeached. And as far as the phony unemployment number right before the election. Ha, Ha, Ha - even a child can see through this BS. However, Obots like yourself should do a little research and understand that he got to that number because over 2 million people stopped looking for work. The ACTUAL figure is around 11 percent unemployment. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good brainwashed narrative. By the way, you like paying 4 bucks for gas or did you have to sell your car to pay for food. Talk about eating a crap sandwich - and your waiting for him to put a slice of cheese on it like he promised. Get real. Wake up. AND never buy a car by yourself - because if you'll believe the BS the Organizer is feeding you then you'll believe anything a car salesman will tell you.
