Telephone Service Restored in Some Areas of Charlotte Amalie

Apologizing to customers still without telephone service in Charlotte Amalie, and to others inconvenienced by the outage, Innovative issued a press release Wednesday stating that service had been restored to many businesses and residences.

“On Monday, someone damaged a major cable in Charlotte Amalie when a jackhammer was used to excavate on Norre Gade,” Innovative Sr. Vice President of Network Operations Terry Falls said. “As a result of this damage to Innovative’s facilities, hundreds of residential and business subscribers were rendered without service.”

On Wednesday, Falls said that service was restored to many locations, including Government House, the Ron de Lugo Federal Building and Courthouse, the Theodore Tunick Business Complex and Bluebeard’s Castle Hotel.

The affected locations include Agnes Fancy, Commandant Gade, Dronningens Gade, Hospital Ground, Jeppesgang Gade, LerkenLund, Norre Gade, Prindsens Gade and Taarenberg.

Innovative’s crews are addressing the outage and will continue to work until telephone service is fully restored, the release indicated.
