VIWMA Apologizes for Trash Overflow in Downtown St. Thomas

The V.I. Waste Management Authority apologizes to the St. Thomas community for the current trash overflow situation occurring in the Charlotte Amalie area.
One of the contracted haulers is currently experiencing mechanical difficulties with their equipment, affecting receptacle and six- and eight-yard bin collections in the Altona, Frenchtown, Mahogany Estate, Savan, Hospital Ground, Polyberg, Sugar Estate and Estate Thomas areas. The authority’s Solid Waste Division is currently working with our staff and other contracted haulers to address this situation in a timely manner, according to a press release issued on Friday by the VIWMA.
The authority apologizes for this inconvenience and will be working diligently to address the overflow and clean up the affected areas. It is anticipated that scheduled collections will resume in the affected areas shortly.
