On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.

Shooting Claims life of 18-year-old Vasheo Donastorg

According to police, Vasheo Donastorg was washing his car outside his home on Lime Street when shots rang out Monday evening, killing the 18-year-old. Police are urging anyone with information to call.

Federal and Local Law Enforcement Agencies Announce Career Day

Those who are interested in a law enforcement career or going to law school are invited to take part in Law Enforcement Career Day. Law enforcement recruiters from 26 agencies will be available on Tuesday, April 3, at the UVI Fitness Center on St. Thomas and Wednesday, April 4, at the UVI Great Hall, UVI, on St. Croix. Both events will be open from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
Law School Recruitment Day on St. Croix will also be on Wednesday, April 4. On St. Thomas Law School Recruitment Day will be held on Thursday, April 5. There will be twelve law schools represented.
Law enforcement offers exciting and fulfilling career opportunities. The law enforcement field offers excellent health insurance, retirement and career benefits. Careers in law enforcement encompass a myriad of jobs that typically welcome individuals with educational and professional backgrounds in criminology, criminal justice, political science, psychology, social work, IT, engineering and other liberal arts and science disciplines.
Law Enforcement Career Day is not limited to recent or soon to be college or high school graduates, but is open to the public and admission is free.
Over 26 agencies are taking part, with representatives from  ATF, CBP, DEA, FBI, IRS, ICE, VIPD, DPNR, TSA,VI DOJ, BOC, VIPA, TCC, USPIS, Superior Court, National Park Service, U.S. Marshal Service, U.S. Attorney’s Office and others available to answer your questions.
