The Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue reminds the business community that items imported into the territory via the United States Postal Service are subject to excise tax.
“Business owners are expected to file and pay the correct amount of excise tax due within 30 days following the month that the item was imported,” Claudette Watson-Anderson, BIR director, said.
Excise tax return forms are available at all bureau offices and on its Web site (www.viirb.com) to make the filing convenient.  Taxpayers with questions about the excise taxes should contact Glenford Hodge at 776-3740.
