TAX AMNESTY ENDS NOV. 18

The tax forgiveness that began in April on property taxes, and has been extended twice, is coming to an end next week.
The close of business on Thursday Nov. 18 will mark the end of forgiveness of penalty and interest on overdue property taxes from the 1998 tax year and before, according to a release from Government House.
In an effort to stimulate cash flow the governor declared a tax amnesty last spring. It has twice been extended.
Finance Commissioner Bernice A. Turnbull urged those taxpayers who are delinquent not to miss the opportunity to pay their taxes without penalty before the amnesty ends.
She said Finance will payment by cash, check, money order or credit card.
The Finance Department collections offices are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday on all three islands.
