Congregation Honors Seven Students on King’s Birthday

     The Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas will again observe Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday with a special service honoring seven high school students whose lives exemplify Dr. King's teachings.  The ceremony will be part of the Jan. 13 Erev Shabbat service, which begins at 6:30 p.m.  The public is invited to the service and to a reception at Lilienfeld House, across from the synagogue, after the service.
     The seven students to be honored are:
All Saints School: Cajay Jacobs
Antilles School: Briana Adams
Charlotte Amalie High School: Savannah Lyons Anthony
Ivanna Eudora Kean High School: Jed Augustin
St. Peter and Paul School: Sarah-Ann Charles
Virgin Islands Montessori and International Academy: Nia Nicole Hazell
Seventh-day Adventist: Asenee Flaharty
All seven were nominated for the award by their principals or guidance counselors. In addition to the recognition, each student will receive a $500 U.S. Savings Bond and a special book, "Shared Dreams, Martin Luther King and the Jewish Community." This year’s guest speaker
: Donna M. Christensen, delegate to Congress.
