U.S. Virgin Islands Returns to the Miss World Pageant

Through an exclusive agreement with the Miss World Organization, Cyndee’s Models in the Isle has received the licensing rights to host the selection for the U.S. Virgin Islands representative to compete in the 60th edition of the biggest beauty pageant in the world. The territory will return to the Miss World Pageant this year, sending a delegate to compete in the world finals to be held in China on Oct. 30.

The selection of Whitney Carter to hold the new title of Miss U.S. Paradise took place recently on St. Croix. As the territory’s delegate, Carter will be prepared to compete in the Miss World finals; she will be in Sanya, China, from Oct. 4-30.
Cyndee Ible Frontal, the owner of Cyndee’s Models is joined by Gadol Wilson, a V.I. fashion designer based in the United States who coordinated the agreement and made the introduction to the Miss World Organization, to organize and direct the pageant and ensure that the Virgin Islands is represented.
Gadol has worked for many years designing costumes and wardrobe for various former V.I. beauty queens for both the Miss World and Miss Universe Pageants. He presently holds several licenses for other countries competing in major international competitions.
Cyndee has owned one of the most successful modeling and casting agencies in the Virgin Islands, producing well-trained and developed models for over 20 years. She is also no stranger to the pageant world, as she has competed in Miss St. Croix, Miss Virgin Islands and Miss Caribbean Pageants.
They will also work in collaboration with Jason Gardener of JG Management LLC., assisting in the development and coordination of the local pageant as well as for the reigning queen in preparation for the finals.
“The Miss World pageant is the most televised beauty pageant in the world boasting more than two billion viewers. This is an excellent vehicle to promote the beauty of our Islands and give our young women exposure as ambassadors,” says Cyndee. “The Miss World “Beauty with a Purpose” campaign also serves as a great venue to promote various U.S. Virgin Islands charity causes.”
A press conference to introduce Miss U.S. Paradise, Whitney Carter, to the public will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13 at Cyndee’s Models in The Isle Studio, No. 9 Princess Plaza. Call 718-9657 or 690-2045 for information or send e-mail to cyndeesmodels@yahoo.com.
