FirstBank has given a contribution of $2,000 to its “adopted school,” Emanuel Benjamin Oliver Elementary School on St. Thomas. The funds will be allocated to the school’s AYP recognition program. In March 2009, the school met the annual performance standard, which is administered by the Department of Education. Students had to test at the 50th percentile or better in reading and math. The recognition program will serve to award the students’ accomplishments on last year’s exam and continue to motivate them as they prepare for the upcoming test in March 2010.
