Pistarckle Presents Two One-Act Comedies by Tom Stoppard

Pistarckle Theater presents two one-act comedies by Tom Stoppard, “The Real Inspector Hound” and “After Magritte,” holiding openin night on Dec. 2.  Both farces are filled with the witty wordplay and slapstick humor for which Stoppard is famous.
“After Magritte” presents the kooky Harris and his wife Thelma as they prepare for a ballroom dance contest, and their mother as she practices the tuba. Constable Holmes observes these antics and reports the odd behavior to his superior, Inspector Foot.  Enter the forceful inspector from Scotland Yard with his constable.  As the officers proceed to interrogate the hapless family, something about a parked car, a tortoise, a blind one-legged football player and the robbery of a Minstrel Shows box office, everything unravels to an absurd but logical conclusion.
In “The Real Inspector Hound,” feuding theatre critics Moon and Birdboot, the first a pompous and vindictive second stringer and the second a fussy philanderer, are swept into the whodunit they are viewing. In the hilarious spoof of an Agatha Christie drawing room murder mystery, all is not what it
seems. As the mist rises about isolated Muldoon Manor, Moon and Birdboot become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman.
Opening night is Friday, Dec. 2, with the Pay-as-You-Can preview on Thursday, Dec. 1.  Other performances are Dec. 8, 9 and 10, all at 8 p.m. There will be  a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.  For tickets call 775-7877 or go online at www.pistarckletheater.vi or e-mail info@pistarckletheater.vi.
