The Seven Minus Seven Gallery presents “Remembering Places I’ve Never Been,” a black and white, group photo show that is curated by national-award winning photographer Steve Rockstein. The exhibition will begin on Friday, Aug. 27, and will feature works by local and stateside artists: Clay Jones, Lamont Blake and Debbie Giammarco. Rockstein’s newest imagery, which combines iPhone photography with PhotoShopped graphic elements, will also be showcased.
“The theme is an effort to push back the boundaries. You won’t see any pretty sunsets or close-ups of iguanas here,” says Rockstein. “Instead you will see imagery that originated from the photo-artist’s psyche and imagination.”
The warehouse space, adjoining the gallery, will feature live music and a video preview of Rockstein’s career retrospective exhibition, which will open Feb. 17, 201,1 at Maria Henle Studio, on St. Croix, and March 18 at Oceana Gallery and Seven Minus Seven.
