Oceana Gallery Presents Lisa Etre Exhibit: Carnival Time 2009

St. Thomas - Patricia LaCorte of Oceana Gallery presents "Carnival Time 2009," vivid silkscreen depictions of Carnival themes by longtime U.S.V.I. resident-artist Lisa Etre. The opening reception for the show will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, April 16, upstairs at Oceana Gallery at Villa Olga in Frenchtown. A portion of the proceeds from art sales will be donated to the Love City Pan Dragons Youth Orchestra. The show will continue through May 11.
Raised on St Croix, now living on St John and having just completed 25 years of teaching art at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School where she holds is the art department chairperson, Etre's Caribbean life has been the stimulus for colorful graphic prints and giftware items that are well known throughout the region. The show is a collection of acrylic silkscreen prints with movement and color reflecting the vibrations of Carnival. She has been published in Islands Magazine, illustrated for Simon & Schuster's "One White Sail," and was a featured artist on the set of "The Bill Cosby Show." Etre has returned to landscape painting, continues corporate designing and is the founding member of the Artists' Association of St. John Inc.
