The Reichhold Center for the Arts invites the public to get a sneak peek at the Soweto Gospel Choir at www.reichholdcenter.com. The gospel choir, based in South Africa, will launch its U.S. tour with a performance at the Reichhold Center at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.
It will perform a series of traditional American gospel songs, along with upbeat African freedom songs. The choir is noted for its explosive harmonies and exuberant choreography. Performing in colorful African attire, the choir’s presentation is stunning.
In 2007 the choir received a Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album, followed by a 2008 Grammy Award for its third album, “African Spirit.”
