With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Damon Miguel Yates, who graced this world on November 24, 1969, and left us on January 27, 2025. Damon was a beloved son to Julia Campbell and Willie Lee Yates and a devoted brother to Esther Smith and Loretta Brown, all of whom preceded him in death. His memory will forever be cherished by his daughter, Olivia Yates, his brother Bradley Campbell, his sisters Sandra Brown Davis and Juliette Bynum, and his brother Bryan Fleming. His presence also will be missed by his niece Brandi LaFall, his nephews Marcus Davis and Brenden Davis, and his niece Jasmine Davis, along with countless other family members and friends who were touched by his life.
Born in the vibrant community of Venice, California, Damon found a second home in the tranquil beauty of St. Croix, which he held dear to his heart. His legacy is a testament to the strength and warmth he shared with everyone he encountered.
A memorial service celebrating Damon’s life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at South Gate Baptist Church in Christiansted. All who knew and loved him are invited to join in honoring his remarkable journey.
