Clara Lindqvist Checkley, age 78, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024. She was born on Aug. 2, 1946, in Christiansted, St Croix.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ana Chardon and Cyril Lindquist; sisters: Ana Simko, Nilda Torres, Jacquelin Caldwell and Carmen Coughlin; and brothers: Cyril, Karl, Albert and Christian Lindquist.
She is survived by her daughter, Gislaine; son-in-law, Miguel Camacho; grandchildren: Steffen, K’Ana and Michael; grandson-in-law, KD; granddaughters-in-law: Veronica and Amar; great-grandkids: Kianu and Charlotte; and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Clara graduated in 1965 from Central High School and did some studies at UVI. She worked at various secretarial jobs in the government and private sectors until her last job with the Department of Education.
She enjoyed visiting different places and talking to people about past times. Clara was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3107 Estate Orange Grove, Christiansted, St. Croix.
