Gov. Bryan Celebrates Alicia “Chucky” Hansen Day

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. today joins the Virgin Islands community in celebrating the inaugural Alicia “Chucky” Hansen Day, a tribute to the extraordinary legacy of a woman whose unwavering dedication and fearless advocacy shaped the political landscape of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Serving eleven terms as a Senator, Alicia “Chucky” Hansen was a force of nature, embodying strength, resilience, and an unrelenting commitment to the people she deeply loved. She was an indomitable advocate, fiercely championing the most important causes to her constituents. Her formidable presence and unwavering determination earned her the respect of her peers, her opponents, and all who worked alongside her—including myself.
“Chucky’s honesty, candor, and invaluable counsel were gifts I relied on throughout my journey in public service,” Governor Bryan said. “Her cherished friendship and unwavering support enriched my life in countless ways, and I miss her dearly.”
Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach, Esq., shared a profound and enduring friendship with Chucky, a bond rooted in mutual respect and a passion for public service. Together, they exemplified a deep commitment to serving Virgin Islanders with authenticity and determination.
As we honor Alicia “Chucky” Hansen’s remarkable contributions, we are reminded of her tireless efforts to uplift our community and her steadfast belief in the power of bold, honest leadership. Chucky’s legacy continues to inspire all of us to serve with integrity, strength, and an unyielding love for the Virgin Islands.
Today, we celebrate not only the leader and the advocate but also the friend whose impact will be felt for generations to come.
