Innovative Telephone Announces 2008 Scholarship Winners

June 29, 2008 — Anishka R. Davis and Lincoln Liburd were chosen from a pool of 76 applicants as winners of the 2008 Albert A. Sheen Scholarship recognizing significant achievement by young people in the territory.
Davis and Liburd will each receive a four-year tuition-only scholarship of $20,000.
“Innovative Telephone is pleased to continue its decades-long tradition of giving back to the community. Anishka and Lincoln have now joined a prestigious group of scholars we are happy to support,” Innovative Telephone President and CEO Clarke Garnett said.
Davis is a 17-year-old honors graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School in St. Thomas. She will be attending Alfred University in the fall to pursue a degree in communications. She is a member of the Amalian Chapter of the National Honor Society for High School Scholars. Anishka gives back to her community by volunteering at homeless shelters and participating in toy drives for children.
Liburd is a 16-year-old honors graduate of The Gifft Hill School in St. John. He will be attending Stanford University in the fall to pursue a degree in engineering. Liburd gives back to his community through his free after-school tennis camp for elementary students. He demonstrated leadership skills most recently as student body president at Gifft Hill School.
Innovative Telephone also awarded 12 four-year $2,000 scholarships to the following students who will be attending the University of the Virgin Islands this fall: (St. Thomas) Chaquan Thomas, Jessica Magras, Makiijah Crabbe, Shamoi Rodgers, Karolynne Baptiste, and Johnathan Senelis-Jose; (St. Croix) La Dia Carrington, Krista E. Edwards, Johnathan Paul, Estefanny De La Cruz, Raydiance Clarke, and Sharifah Cottle-Matthew.
