FEBRUARY
Carnival Symposium: "From Whence We Came."
Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Palms Court Harborview Hotel.
Keynote speaker was professor, historian and author Dr. Robert Nicholls. Five panel discussions scheduled local speakers including Gene Emanuel, Allan Richardson, Dorothy Elskie, Alrid Lockhart, Chalkdust, Ron de Lugo and others.
MARCH
New prizes added
Two cash prizes have been added for Carnival events.
There will be a $1,500 Road March Prize.
Gov. Charles Turnbull announced that he will award a $2,500 Governor's Prize each to the winning King and Queen of the Band participants.

"McBeans' Golden Touch" Carnival Food Fair Honoring Alvin and Olga McBean
Wednesday, April 24, 8 a.m. Rothschild Francis Square.
The McBeans are longtime participants in the Fair, and have taken home numerous prizes for their entries in the plants category, according to a release.
Carnivals past exhibit
Thursday, April 25, from 10 a.m. at Emancipation Garden.
There'll be displays of past memorabilia, a costume display, a display of the making of a steel pan, and many other cultural displays. Guest hosts on hand will speak about art forms and historical Carnival moments. Milo's Kings will add entertainment.

Note the changes: formerly announced as 12:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Veterans Drive, it's now set for 2:30 to 4 a.m. at Carnival Village.

The action, led by Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires. starts at the bridge by the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School and up to Carnival Village, where the Phranchize band from St. Croix will keep the roogoodoo awake.

Carnival Fireworks: "Thunder Over Charlotte Amalie"
Saturday, April 27, 10 p.m. Charlotte Amalie harbor.
Zambelli Fireworks Internationale will light up the skies over the harbor, set to music in this year of the 50th anniversary celebration. The Committee suggests tuning in to WVJZ, WVWI or WWKS, for the live soundtrack broadcast. All fireworks will be shot from two boat locations: on the motor vessel Lady Romney and on the barge GEM-101 in the harbor. The WICO dock is the base of operations.
Boating community is welcome to watch – from at least 1,000 feet. No traffic will be allowed to travel through the harbor during the show.
Get to a viewing location on time, the show will start promptly at 10 p.m. and last approximately 20 minutes.

SEPTEMBER
Parade of Caribbean Carnival Queens.

Carnival queens from throughout the Caribbean with gather for a final pageant and celebration.
OCTOBER
Carnival Food Fair
Time to be announced; at Fort Christian Parking Lot.
The parking lot will be converted into a Carnival Food Court featuring Caribbean dishes and delicacies from throughout the Caribbean.
NOVEMBER
Carnival at Sea
Evening time in the Charlotte Amalie Harbor.
Residents and visitors will be invited to decorate pleasure boats in Carnival regalia for a nighttime Carnival Water Parade.
DECEMBER
Grand Finale 50th Anniversary Party.
