The over $200 million reconstruction of the territory’s largest hotel, Frenchman’s Reef Resort, is on hold while its parent company struggles with major losses because of COVID-19.
The air was thick with sea salt as more than 100 guests arrived for a preliminary glance at the concept behind Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef, which is undergoing major renovations after the 2017 hurricanes, and the new Noni Beach Resort.
The Frenchman’s Reef Marriott Resort and Spa on St. Thomas will open in the later part of 2020, but the hiring process will begin this week, according to managing director Kurt Wiksten.
The resort will include cutting-edge design by architects Kollin Altomare and Whitespace Interiors, featuring infinity edge pools, enhanced wind resiliency measures, and restaurant concepts by celebrity chef Richard Sandoval.
