The Forum Reschedules Live Screening of ‘Aida’
November 14, 2018 @ 7:00 pm
Because of the uncertain weather and potentially dangerous road conditions on Nov. 8, The Forum postponed tonight’s opera until today. (Please note the unusual night to avoid conflict with the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at the Reformed Church). The Forum presents a Met Opera Live Screening this evening. The Court Yard will be open from 6 p.m. with small meals and desserts by Amalia Café. The libretto indicates merely that the opera takes place in “ancient Egypt, in the time of the pharaohs.” The score of “Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi is a sophisticated example of Italian Romanticism, imbued with a convincingly mysterious and exotic hue. Making no claims to authenticity, Verdi created a unique musical palette for this opera. Tickets cost $20 for adults; $10 for teachers; and students attend for free.
