The committee has scheduled a meeting to receive testimony and consider the follow bills:
Bill No. 33-0192 – An Act amending Title 11, chapter 21, sections 1206 and 1213 of the Virgin Islands Code relating to administrative fees and registration of tradenames and renewal registrations of tradenames by authorizing the Office of the Lieutenant Governor to establish reasonable registration and renewal and schedules for registration renewal. (Sponsored by Senator Donna Frett Gregory)
Bill No. 33-0224 – An Act amending Title 14, chapter 23, section 485(f) of the Virgin Islands Code by increasing the fines for selling or serving alcoholic beverages to minors. (Sponsored by Senator Javan E. James Sr.)
Bill No. 33-0103 – An Act amending the following provisions of the Virgin Islands Code; (1) Title 3, chapter 25, subchapter VI, by adding a new section 583d providing for maternity, paternity and adoption leave for government employees; (2) Title 19, part I, chapter 7, by adding new sections 154, 155, and 156 providing for learning evaluation of children, postpartum care and minimum standards of health care for incarcerated women and men; (3) Title 19, part IV, chapter 37, subchapter II, section 831 9a), by establishing a new procedure for obtaining an initial birth certificate; (4) Title 17, chapter 11, section 130 and title 17, chapter 9, subchapter I, section 87, by prohibiting the use of corporal punishment: and (5) Title 17, chapter 9, subchapter I, by adding a new section 86a providing for paid time off from work so that parents may visit their children’s schools :and providing that certain health care facilities hire discharge planners no later than January 2020. Bill No. 33-0197 – An Act amending Title 33, subtitle 1, part II, chapter 20 section 681 of the Virgin Islands Code by authorizing the Virgin Islands Burau of Internal Revenue to create any and all forms necessary for the collection and filing of taxes. (Sponsored by Senator Kurt A. Vialet)
Bill No. 33-0132 – An Act amending Title 3, chapter 27, section 715 of the Virgin Islands Code to strengthen the Board of the Government Employees Retirement System by requiring greater expertise among board members. (Sponsored by Senator Kurt A. Vialet)
