FAITH GROUPS JOIN HEALTH UNITS IN AIDS OUTREACH

The timely response of the territory's Interfaith Coalitions response after Hurricanes Hugo and Marilyn helped communities to rebuild, and families to return to their normal lives. Now the coalitions are working with the Department of Health clinics to help with disaster of another kind — HIV and AIDS.

FAITH COMMUNITY ENLISTED IN HIV/AIDS OUTREACH

Issues associated with HIV/AIDS must be addressed forthrightly and honestly. The realities of Virgin Islands youths' lives today require compassion and participation by the faith community. Project Resolve -- a collaboration between Health Department care centers and the Interfaith Coalitions of St. Croix and St. Thomas -- has been undertaken to provide that participation.

TURNBULL ENDORSES BEAL LAND SWAP

Saying that the Beal Aerospace project "is in the best long-term interests of the Virgin Islands," Gov. Charles Turnbull has announced his support for the land swap Beal insisted on as a condition of setting up operations in the territory.

MAIN STREET'S UPSCALE COACH SHOP TO CLOSE

The foundering Virgin Islands economy has claimed another victim: Kathryn Peterson plans to close the Coach leather goods store on Main Street Aug. 31.

TOWN MEETING ON WATER ISLAND
