Structural Fire on St. Thomas Contained; Injuries Reported

A structural fire occurred at La Esquina Dulce on St. Thomas Wednesday, the V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services reported.

Crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:05 p.m. The VIFEMS crew effectively extinguished the hot spots detected and successfully contained the fire, preventing its spread, according to the report.

During their operations, two individuals with burn injuries were treated by VIFEMS medical personnel and transported via Ambulance to Schneider Regional Medical Center for further care, the report stated.

After dousing the hot spots within the structure, the VIFEMS crew conducted a thorough inspection. To determine the cause of the fire, the VIFEMS crew promptly requested the presence of a fire investigator at the scene, VIFEMS said.

“We appreciate the coordination of Units 102, 209, Ambulance 12 and their crew for their exceptional response, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to protecting and serving the community,” said St. Thomas Deputy Chief Eustace Grant Jr. “Their courageous efforts reflect the core values of the VIFEMS and exemplify the commitment to public safety,” he concluded.

The VIFEMS team, consisting of two units and five personnel, demonstrated their commitment to rapid emergency response throughout this operation. Their efficient application of horizontal ventilation techniques contributed to the suppression of this incident currently under investigation.
