Early Registration for Second Annual Paradise 48 Film Competition Opens April 10

Paradise 48 Film Fest

The second annual Paradise 48 Film Festival and Competition is slated for June 2023 with local filmmakers set to film and produce original short films in less than 48 hours.

Interested filmmakers in the United States and British Virgin Islands are welcome to register early via the website www.paradise48.com to participate in the competition beginning on April 10 with a 10% discount on the registration fee until April 21. The general registration window will be from April 22 through May 26 and late registration from May 27 through June 15.

The Paradise48 Film Festival challenges participants to create an original short film of four to seven minutes in length. Additionally, each film must incorporate specific elements that the festival organizers will provide at the kick-off event on Friday, June 16, just before the competition countdown begins. Teams will randomly select their genre, while organizers will provide the four required elements: a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a famous landmark.

Competitors must gather their teams (directors, writers, actors, editors, etc.), to create a short film in just 48 hours. There are no limits to who can participate on a team; both amateurs and professionals are welcome to enter the competition.

The Paradise48 Film Festival competition, presented by XR Entertainment in partnership with the USVI Film Office, the Economic Development Authority and the BVI Film Commission, will take place on June 16-18 on St. Thomas. This will be followed by a festival-style premiere on June 24. The festival premiere is open to the community to attend and view the works of local creatives.

The festival is presented by XR Entertainment in partnership with the USVI Film Office, the Economic Development Authority, and the BVI Film Commission. Sponsors include WTJX, MDM Inc. Federal Credit Union, VI Lottery, Jechonias James PC, West Indies Co., Oswald Avenue, Color Max, First Bank VI and Westline Pro.
