A painting by Dominique Lezama, who is also known as Indra Lovely (Submitted photo)

81C is hosting a single pop-up art exhibition entitled “Revival,” featuring artist Dominique Lezama. Exhibited artwork by Lezama will be on view and for sale. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, discuss her work and enjoy complimentary beverages. The event will be held from 2-8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7

In addition to Lezama’s pop-up exhibition, “St. Thomas Golgatha” — a full scale collection of cityscapes, featuring both familiar territory and worldly poetry by artist Steve Counselman — is currently on-view in the 81C gallery.

81C’s pop-up art events and regular gallery hours are also promoted as networking opportunities for local artists.

Artist statement: “Revival” is a collection of work through the years made up of abstract thoughts and local imagery. My style is a fusion of contemporary art techniques and line drawings intertwined with multiple mediums.

I prefer not to tell my viewers what I see and feel; instead, I love hearing their own perspectives and how each piece relates to them or moves them in a certain way.

The works in “Revival” represent my journey through life. They are a snapshot of where I am at this moment in time. They are a reflection of my journey and how I have grown and also how I have yet to grow. They are a representation of who I am and where I have been.

I hope that my viewers will take something away from these works. I hope they will recognize themselves in these pieces and that it speaks to them in some small way. I hope they will be moved by my art and feel a connection to it. And most importantly, I hope they will remember that the only constant in life is change. — Dominique Lezama
