Three people were treated at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for stab wounds and other injuries on Friday, including a man reported to be the assailant in the first two stabbings, according to the V.I. Police Department.
In a news release issued on Tuesday, the police said on Feb. 5 the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to the hospital after receiving a report of stabbing victims being admitted.
At approximately 6:38 p.m., a male victim was transported to the emergency room via private vehicle with stab wounds to his right shoulder and right side of his chest. The driver of the vehicle reported that he exited Allyne’s Variety Store in Estate Diamond Ruby and found the victim injured outside the store.
At 8:32 p.m., another stabbing victim arrived at the emergency room with stab wounds to his right forearm, the right side of his chest and left shoulder. He reported that he had been assaulted at the same location as the first victim. He told police he had attempted to calm the suspect down when he was attacked.
The suspect, whose name was not released by the police, was subsequently assaulted by bystanders and witnesses after he reportedly stabbed the two previous victims. He suffered multiple contusions and stab wounds and was transported to the hospital via ambulance.
