10th Virgin Islander Dies From COVID-19

The Department of Health reported a 10th COVID-19 fatality on Thursday morning. The death occurred on St. Thomas. With the new death, St. Thomas and St. Croix each show five deaths.

As of Thursday evening, the territory has tested 13,563 residents and 869 have tested positive for COVID-19.

As usual, citing privacy laws, the Health Department did not release information about the deceased other than the fact that it occurred on St. Thomas.

Schneider Regional Medical Center reported earlier this week it was caring for 12 elderly patients from the Queen Louise Home who tested positive for the illness, while Human Services reported Wednesday it had 11 Queen Louise Home residents receiving care at the hospital. Human Services also reported the death of a Queen Louise resident, who was 101 years old. Whether this death is due to COVID-19 is unconfirmed.
