Department of Public Works’ Main Street Enhancement Project Continues on St. Thomas

Island Roads completed the concrete slab on Nye Gade and installed 85 percent of the Euro Cobble Pavers. The balance will be installed next week, once the slab has cured.

Euro Cobble installation is also in progress on Store Tvaer Gade. The stone masons have completed approximately 75 percent of the stone sidewalk on Store Tvaer Gade. Stone sidewalk installation on the south side of Main Street is also in progress. Island Roads will continue with the installation of the communication conduits on Main Street.

Additionally, demolition of the top of the box culvert on the east side of Cardow began this week. The existing steel beams are rotted, and a new structural slab will be installed. Work is anticipated to continue on Nye Gade, Store Tvaer Gade and Main Street for the next two months.

The estimated project cost is $14,625,004.11
