Officers from the Special Operations Bureau of the V.I. Police on Saturday arrested Acio Richards, a 28-year-old from Mahogany Estate and charged him with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
He also was charged with possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
According to police, officers were conducting an inspection in the vicinity of the Altona Professional Building when they conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle operated by Richards. During the traffic stop, officers recovered controlled substances from the vehicle and on Richards’ person, and at 9:33 p.m. Saturday he was arrested as a result.
Bail for Richards was set at $15,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
