Human Services Working to Fix Issue Affecting SNAP Cards at Cost-U-Less

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services informs recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that the St. Thomas Cost-U-Less store, which re-opened for business Friday, currently is unable to process the SNAP EBT Cards.

The St. Thomas Cost-U-Less currently is not set up as an authorized EBT vendor by the federal Food and Nutrition Services on the mainland.

The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services has reached out to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Services to alert them of the situation with the St. Thomas Cost-U-less Store and to ask their assistance in activating the store’s ability to process the SNAP EBT cards as quickly as possible.

Human Services regrets the negative impact of this temporary situation at the St. Thomas Cost-U-Less Store and assures Virgin Islands SNAP recipients that it is working closely with Cost-U-less and the federal Food and Nutrition Services Division of the USDA to quickly resolve the issue.

Until then, the SNAP EBT cards can be successfully processed at all other authorized SNAP vendors in the territory.
