Pair Plead Not Guilty in Murder of 4-Year Old Aaron Benjamin

Delicia Daniel, mother of murdered 4-year-old Aaron Benjamin Jr., and Kyle Christopher entered not guilty pleas Wednesday in the child’s death, Attorney General Denise George announced.

The formal criminal charges were filed against the pair Wednesday.

The criminal information, which is the formal charging document filed by the attorney general, charges the defendants with first-degree murder, child abuse, child neglect, aggravated child abuse and neglect and third-degree assault.

According to the attorney general, conviction on the charges bring the possibility of:
– First-degree murder, imprisonment for the remainder of his or her natural life without parole,
– Child abuse, a fine of not less than $500 or imprisonment of not more than 20 years or both,
– Child neglect, a fine of not less than $500 or imprisonment of not more than 15 years or both,
– Aggravated child abuse and neglect, imprisonment of not less than 5 years but not more than 30 years, and
– Third-degree assault, a fine of not less than $500 and not more than $3,000, or imprisonment of not more than five years, or both.

At arraignment, the defendants each entered pleas of not guilty to all charges for the death of Benjamin, which occurred on Oct. 11.
