Man Killed in Golden Rock Shooting

A man was killed Saturday evening in a shooting in St. Croix’s Golden Rock area.

The V.I. Police Department did not identify the victim in its news report issued Monday, saying the name was being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

According to the Source homicide* listing, it was the 17th homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 28th in the territory.

According to the VIPD, at 11:40 p.m. Saturday 911 received several calls of shots being fired in the Golden Rock area. Officers responding to the scene discovered an unresponsive Caucasian male on the sidewalk. The man had been shot multiple times about the body and succumbed to his injuries.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau urged anyone in the community who has any information about the crime to call the CIB TIP-LINE at 469-475-3871, the VIPD at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477

* The Source homicide list is based on police reports but, unlike the VIPD list and those in other media, does not include suicides or vehicular homicides.
