St. John Man Charged with Burglary, Domestic Violence

Jimenez Caraballo, 32 of Cruz Bay, was arrested Friday and charged in an incident that took place Feb. 18 on St. John.

According to the V.I. Police Department, a woman reported that a male acquaintance, identified as Caraballo, broke into her neighbor’s house, which she was occupying, and assaulted her. According to the report he dragged her outside down a flight of steps, during which she sustained bruises on her arm, leg and thigh.

On March 1, Caraballo turned himself. Police arrested him and charged him with first-degree burglary. No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice of rights hearing.

This case is under investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit. Police urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau 340-774-2211, 911, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS.)
