Gunmen Escape After Robbing McDonald’s on STX

Armed robbers hit the McDonald in Villa La Reine, Kingshill, on St. Croix Saturday night, escaping after a police chase but leaving behind an undisclosed amount of cash, the V.I Police Department reported.

At about 8:57 p.m. Saturday the 911 switchboard dispatched officers from the Marshall Command Units to a reported robbery in progress at the McDonald’s. At the scene, officers talked to witnesses who said three black males, dressed in all black and with their faces covered, entered the establishment with guns.

One of the suspects pointed a gun at at the attendants, police said, demanding that they opened the cash register and put the money in a bag.

The robbers then fled McDonald’s in a vehicle. Officers located and pursued the vehicle, which came to a stop inside Kingshill Cemetery.

The occupants evacuated the vehicle and jumped the the cemetery wall, leaving behind an undisclosed amount cash and other items.

None of the restaurant’s customers or employees, nor any officers, were physically injured during robbery or pursuit, the VIPD said.

Police urged anyone with any information about the case to contact the Major Crime Unit by calling anyone with information regarding the incident can contact bureau at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stopper USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Tips to Crime Stoppers that lead to a resolution of the case can qualify the tipster to an anonymous cash reward.
