Global Initiative Sparks Youth Leadership Movement Impacting 1 Million Youth; Local Events Scheduled

Global Youth Initiative

One million young people will be equipped, empowered and encouraged to become great leaders this April through The John Maxwell Team Global Youth Initiative. The series of events will be held worldwide during April in local cities, communities and towns across the globe.

The John Maxwell Team Global Youth Initiative is an international movement led by members of the John Maxwell Team (JMT) who will host free community events for youth ages 8-18. The goal of these events is to reach young people with topics ranging from leadership to anti-bullying to self-esteem. The team consists of members who have been certified to coach, speak and train on leadership values and principles. It is committed to raising up young leaders and equipping them with relevant tools and resources that will help them grow and thrive.

“Through the John Maxwell Team Global Youth Initiative, we have the chance to influence tomorrow’s leaders today,” said Jacklyn Ruan, certified John Maxwell team member. “With John Maxwell, I’ve learned that leadership develops daily, not in a day. Our goal is to spark an intentional and lifelong interest in leadership in today’s youth and help them become the change they wish to see in the world.”

On St. Thomas, Jacklyn Ruan and Donnalie Edwards-Cabey, certified members of the team, will host several events at Nisky Moravian School, New Testament Academy, Gomez Elementary, Lockhart Elementary, the Boys and Girls Club of St. Thomas, CMAT Youth Club, (Christ Church Methodist, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Youth organizations, and the YWCA USVI – Y-TEENS VI Girls group.

Unlike many news organizations, we haven't put up a paywall - we want to keep our journalism as open as we can. Our sites are more popular than ever, but advertising revenues are falling - so you can see why we could use your help. Our independent journalism costs time, money and hard work to keep you informed, but we do it because we believe that it matters. If everybody who appreciates our reporting efforts were to help fund it for as little as $1, our future would be much more secure. Thanks in advance for your support!
