As a result of action taken by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that affects carriers nationwide, Viya’s telephone, wireless and long-distance customers will notice a decrease in the Federal Universal Service Charge (FUSC) effective April 1.
The FUSC surcharge factor recovers the costs associated with the carrier’s contributions to the federal universal fund program. The government-mandated program is designed to help keep service rates affordable for all customers in all areas of the United States. Effective April 1, there will be a change in the FUSC surcharge factor from 18.8 percent to 18.4 percent.
For residential telephone customers and single-line business subscribers, the FUSC charge will decrease from $1.22 to $1.19. Multi-line telephone business subscribers will also notice a decrease on their bill from $2.11 to $2.06 per line.
