Woman Reports Rape at UVI Dorm Room

A 19-year-old woman reported Saturday that she had been sexually assaulted at her dorm room campus at the University of the Virgin Islands on St. Thomas.

According to V.I. Police Department, the attack took place between midnight and 1 a.m. Saturday.

Interviewed at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, the victim told police that a male individual came to her dorm room at assaulted her. The police report did not indicate whether the woman knew her assailant.

The hospital treated and released her.

This attack is being investigated by the VIPD’s Major Crime Unit. Police urged anyone with information about the crime to contact the department at 340-774-2211, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807, the 911 call center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
